better for what? Racing or just playing..the mini-z is better on racing conditions, but the 4wd option on the xmod makes for a great drifter on slippery floors that just about every one in the united states has somewhere in the house. :)

the xmods handeling is terrible, they dont go that fast although their bodys are verry cool they are mostly 4 looks... unless u have ALOT OF SPACE on the other hand the mini z is a little bit faster then the xmod but the mini z has the best overall handeling stock, also the xmods parts are a bit pricey 4 sumthing that small n the wires tend 2 snap the miniz is over all a better car stock and wen modded all u need is a new motor n its awsome... the bodys arent as great as the xmods but there is alot more then xmods so mini z is way better

xmods can be way faster. i hated xmods but i got one for free. switched the magnets from the motor with s spin brush(sb) colgate toothbrush motor and whola its fast as hell. :) plus parts are cheaper than mini z. And wires do snap but no prob if you can solder. plus the price is WAYYYY cheaper. for that much u can be running 6 cells on the xmod or 2 LI-ions with the stacket FET`s... just my 2 cents

or, get an iwaver and put li-ions on it, and it will own the xmod.

for how much more money? that will be way more than an xmod.

an iwaver 01(first mini-z) is 40 dollars a iwaver 02(second mini-z) is 50 dollars. an iwaver 04 (mini-z monster clone) is 50 dollars. plus 30 dollars for the li-ion.

Hey dirthog, better pay attention what you say!!! I am a girl but I do not have any micro! Pah, sexist!

Nope, j/k, haha! I have no idea which one is better, but the RC CAR mag claimed that you can extremely customize the X-mods! :excited:

but they suck no matter how much you upgrade them.

Feb 22 2005, 9:46 AM
well not if you strap a three cell lipo to the top of it and run deans its fast

didn't real R/C use to make fun of radiohack? when did radiohack rise to the level of a real r/c company? i only goto radiohack for solder.?(sp) and fuses. but it was always fun watching the bored employees pull out a toy car and run it in their parking lot. yup a whole lot of fun when my old school GT smoked em and everyone laughed. not really fair a nitro vs. a AA powered turd but hey it was good for a laugh.

what i mean when i say they suck is the steering and throttle control suck. and they are slow.

mxrider99
Feb 22 2005, 7:49 PM
yes they are slow until u strap a three cell to them and let em rip

Feb 23 2005, 8:57 AM
well, with sucky steering, you will have no control. plus, the board can only handle up to 8.4volts. over that and it will explode. literaly. boom. period xmods are crud. cheap, crummy peices of junk.

if you stack he fet u can handle mroe colts on the xmod. plus steering can be fixed with just only two 3.3k resistors on the servo. and did i ssay xmod rock...no they are awesome for indoors actually mines is too fast for indoors. I still say i will take a xmod over the miniz xmod parts are way cheaper. thats t lets stop this fight over some micros. rc18t will beat all of em :)

Well I have both xmods and miniz and I have to say Mini z's are way better indoor or outdoor.... but 18ts' will rip them all up like a s7 racing a vw bug

bugoff75
Feb 24 2005, 11:50 AM
depends on the bug. i've seen a bug rip a draggster vette a new one. my brother has a 72 bug that was built for rally racing. a ***** to drive to the market with the racing set up but fast as anything.

well those bugs are straight line racers.. a s7 can track race oh and turn at high speeds .. ohh and did I mention the S7R the has a top speed of over 250

bugoff75

yeah your right it was an alcohol fueled dragster only thing that made it a bug was the fiberglass shell. but i still love the old herbie movies. lol!!!

Feb 24 2005, 8:59 PM

In a circuit, MiniZ Full Mod Vs. Xmod Full Mod, of course, MINIZ is the Way , on a speedway, i'm not really sure....I prefered MiniZ, Xmod is like a toy...

meh, with the money you could buy a Mini-Z, you could buy a Mini-T

My Xmod is far too fast to run indoors - unless you're in a gym. :P

Spent $6, bought a small motor (not even sure what it's for), added a third pair of batteries (Rayovac IC-3's rule), made a graphite drive-shaft (single heaviest piece of the whole car) out of a broken fly rod and some epoxy (on a cooooold winter's day), upgraded the bearings ...

It'll frankly annihilate any Mini-Z I've ever seen, and it didn't cost that much.

The spinbrush motors are very good, too, I built one of those as well before I found these small motors at an electronics shop in town.

Since I'm a bit of a micro car nut, I'd like to add my two cents...

It really comes down to the servo actuation in both cars(Iwaver is essentially a mini-z). In mini-Z you have a 512 step versus an 8 step response for the xmod. You can upgrade either one pretty well but the smoothness of the steering is what gives the Mini-Z the win. I've had an xmod hit 40mph groundspeed but that has lost it's allure (since hitting stuff at that speed turns it into a rolling pile of plastic shards  ) Getting them to do 25mph with smooth response...Mini-Z is my choice. ;)
